Wanting to stay away from the hustle and bustle of popular tourist central Seminyak? We would recommend the laid back sandy beach town of Sanur. Offering a diverse selection of restaurants, cafes and watering holes; now would be the perfect chance to make a change and explore what family-friendly Sanur has to offer. With the help of our list below you will no longer need to say “I’m Hungry in Sanur.. Where Should I Go?”
Cosmic Diner Sanur
Perfect for taking the kids on a time-warp back to the 60s with their diner’s retro-feel. Vinyl booths, Danny Zuko fashion and black checked floors are what you will find whilst you sip on your thickshakes and fresh OJ. With claims for serving the best wagyu beef burgers in town and a menu of American influence, it’s easy to see why people can’t get enough of Cosmic Diner.
The Porch Cafe
A well balanced mix of western comfort foods and tasty baked goods can be found at The Porch Cafe, Sanur. We guarantee no one will go hungry as their expensive menu has something to suit everyone’s taste buds. We recommend trying their Homemade Pies or Thai Fish Cakes. A reasonably priced menu with a cappuccino starting from IDR 30,000 (US $2.15).
If you have been on holiday to Sanur chances are you are familiar with Massimo’s authentic Italian eatery. Said by the creator, Massimo himself “I don’t do fancy food. I just love to carefully pick my produce and ingredients. That’s how you get meals that taste real.” You can understand why it has stood for years as a favourite with just about everyone. Just like a bowl of fresh pasta and a fine wine go well together, a meal for you and your family or large group at Massimo’s will perfectly suit.
The Fire Station Bali
We will let the food do the talking. The lobster below is just a sneak peak of the tantalising good food that you will find at The Fire Station Bali. Made from both local and imported ingredients to ensure the best quality gastropub style western food is served with icy cold drinks. Known for serving larger portions, their eclectic decor (yes there is a mug shot of Jack Nicholson on the wall) and an extensive wine list with bottles available from around the world at moderate pricing.
Lunch or dinner? Why not both. We would recommend trying this stylish Mediterranean restaurant to experience the carefully prepared fresh produce that their chefs prepare daily. Whether you are in need of a coffee fix or a fine wine to be enjoyed with a hearty steak, Dusk Blue is our go to. Contemporary in design and furnished in white and blue hues, sit and watch the foot-traffic pass you by, as you enjoy a delicious meal.
Artotel Beach Club
Known by locals, expats and tourists alike as ABC, short for Artotel Beach Club. A family friendly venue serving the best of local cuisine. Catering to kids with their flat grassy outdoor spaces, swimming pool and treehouse designed venue made out of bamboo. Entering ABC you will be greeted with warm hospitality and a commanding view of picture perfect coastal Sanur. If you are looking for somewhere that will cater for all generations, ABC is the perfect venue for the whole family.
Three Monkey’s Sanur
Tropically infused cocktails and funky jazz music, sounds like a quirky combination ready to help you settle into island life in Sanur. Chef Kali mastered the art of authentic Italian cookery in Sardinia and has since travelled throughout Europe, hence the Italian and Mediterranean influence on her dishes. Aimed at bringing together art, music and flavoursome food, Three Monkey’s Sanur more than meets the mark with their eclectic menu and decor.
Soul Cafe Sanur
Whether you want to be on the beach or hold a meeting in the restaurant choose from one of their two locations. We personally love Soul on the Beach for it’s relaxed vibes, beautiful views of Sanur’s coastal beaches and sand between our toes as we munch on our breakfast. If you are feeling something sweet try the ‘Sweet Old Salty’ – let’s just say it’s french toast with a twist.
Bamboo Bar & Lounge
We suggest getting here before midday to score one of their canopy day beds perched on the Mertasari beach. The idyllic white sandy beach with ocean views beyond the reef surf break in Sanur, ideal both couples and large groups. We love ordering a wood-fired pizza lunch to your day bed whilst watching the various water sports gliding across the water. Ask one of the staff to crack open a fresh coconut for you or if you are ever so inclined a refreshing cocktail from their extensive menu.
