The Tanah Lot temple is mandatory on any Bali traveler's itinerary. From SeminyakTanah lot is a 40 minute drive away. If you want to avoid the crowds go early, but if looking for one of those postcard perfect photos of Tanah Lot get there in the afternoon, just before sunset.
If you decided to dodge the Tanah Lot crowds you should treat yourself with an Indian Ocean sunset somewhere else. Seminyak has plenty of spots from where you can watch the sun go down while you enjoy a fruit juice, a cocktail or an ice cold Bintang.
3. A round of golf at the Nirwana golf clubThe Nirwana golf Bali club is Bali's most famed gold course and rated among the best in Asia. The course is designed by Greg Norman and if you are a dedicated golfer you shouldn't cheat yourself for the opportunity of 18 holes of golf that will take you through terraced rice paddies and along cliffs leading down to the Indian Ocean.
Seminyak is a shoppers Mekka, so be sure to set some time aside for shopping. Jalan Laksmana is the street you should head for to satisfy your shopping craving.
After a round of golf or a day of shopping a spa and massage treatments is the perfect way to regain your energy. Seminyak has some very elegant places that will make you feel like royalty for an hour or two. Treatments come in all kinds' flavors of flavors - chocolate, avocado, milk and honey to name a few.
If you are in Seminyak with children, a day in Waterbom Water Park is a great way to spend a day. The Race track and Climax are recommended for the thrill seekers, while the less adventurous will enjoy a ride down Lazy River.
Another one for the kids is the Bali Safari and Marine Park where a safari tram drives you through open areas with zebras, hippos, rhinos and tigers. The park also has a fresh water aquarium and hosts different animal shows - a dolphin show is said to be coming soon.
Traditional dishes like Nasi goreng, Bebek Betutu (Bali's version of roasted duck) and Babi guling (suckling pig) should all be tried while in Bali. Bali is famous for surfing, so why not hit the waves while you are there. If you are new to surfing there are surf schools where they teach all you need to know. The best surf spots around Seminyak are Canggu, Legian and Kuta Beach.
Bali offers some brilliant scuba diving and snorkelling opportunities. The best dive sites are located on the east and north coast off Bali, so it will take some driving to reach a good dive site, but it is definitely worth it. The most well-known site is the 120 m. long US liberty wreck at Tumbalan. You can reach the end of the wreck closest to the beach with snorkeling equipment, while you need to be an experienced diver to reach the other situated at a depth of 30 meters.
This list started with a temple and ends with a temple. Pura Petitenget isn't as impressive as Tanah lot, but with it location at the beach off Jl Petitenget, it is reachable by foot. If you are lucky you might get to see on off the temples spectacular beach side ceremonies.
