1. Sinaloa Bali

Sinaloa Bali is a welcomed new addition to the culinary scene in Legian. It is known for its vintage decor and colonial-style bar, serving Mexican and Cuban flavoured sharing food and classic cocktails. You can order individually or choose to try their family-style, which we recently did and we couldn’t fault anything on their menu.

Must try: Tequila Mockingbird (love their cocktail names) and the House Nachos (which is served in a colander).

Prices: food ranges from IDR 40,000 – 80,000 whilst cocktails are all IDR 120,000 (including tax and service).

2. Makan Place

True to its namesake Makan Place, meaning “Eat Place” in Indonesian, is a welcoming environment with beautiful bamboo architecture and generously sized meals. Their menu focuses on Western and Asian cuisines with a range of meat dishes, salads, freshly caught seafood and typical go to’s like pizza and pasta. The drink menu is diverse and offers all of your typical beers, wine, signature cocktails and fresh juices.

Must try: Fish and Chips are just like Australia, whilst the Balinese Crackling Pork Knuckle (800g) is a homage to traditional Indonesian food.

Prices: food and drinks range from IDR 50,000 – 200,000

3. Mamma Maurici

A true take on authentic Italian food – Mamma Maurici offers a cozy themed restaurant in Legian with a deliciously diverse menu of pizza, pasta, calzone, seafood and desserts; all of which are made from scratch. You will find yourself wanting to come back for more as the combination of attentive service, reasonable prices and flavoursome food score a perfect ten.

Must try: We can’t go past the calzone and freshly made pasta. If you are feeling up to it, try the Pasta Mista Platter (select three kinds of pasta and three sauces to share family style).

Prices: mains start from IDR 70,000 + whilst beverages range from IDR 35,000 – 120,000

4. Brunch Club Bali

Suitable for breakfast, lunch or dinner with an all-day breakfast menu and a diverse lunch and dinner menu that starts from 12pm. If you are feeling peckish for breakfast their fluffy ricotta pancakes and smashed avo are a must-try. Whilst we favour their wood-fired pizzas for lunch or dinner, they also offer a fresh range of salads, burgers and sandwiches. Not to be messed with, their cocktail menu is a fusion of flavours, unlike anything you have tasted before.

Must try: breakfast = fluffy ricotta pancakes, lunch = BC Killer Burger or any of their wood fire pizzas.

Prices: an affordable selection of food and beverages range from IDR 45,000 – 115,000

5. Coffee Cartel Legian

Originally hailing from Wollongong, NSW, Australia – the owners of this cafe bring with them high-quality coffee with onsite roasters as well as a delectable range of sweet treats and a healthy cafe brunch menu. Boasting an all-day breakfast menu with traditional cafe favourites and quirky takes such as the Vegan Smak Waffles. Dining in for lunch is a breeze when you have options like a Double Royal w/cheese and a good range of hearty and healthy salads.

Must try: breakfast = smoked salmon toastie, lunch = Bali bowl or poke bowl.

Prices: all prices average around IDR 80,000 for a meal whilst a latte is priced at IDR 35,000

6. Azul Beach Club

An absolute beachfront tiki bar that looks like a bamboo tree house. Azul Beach Club is a multi-storey playground with a sandy bar on the lower level, sunset pods for intimate group dining on the second level and a rooftop infinity pool overlooking a refreshing view of Bali, lush palm trees and Legain’s beachfront. Let their chef take you on an exotic culinary journey with a perfect combination of international delicacies and Asian flavours.

Must try: Coco-colada and the stuffed baby squid.

7. Mozzarella By The Sea

With multiple locations throughout Seminyak and Legian, Mozzarella is a well-known establishment for their variety of western cuisine paired with fresh local produce. Most frequently requests are the Mozzarella Aglio olio and Mozzarella’s signature drink (a shaken cocktail from their skilled mixologists).

Must try: any and all of their cocktails, as well as their chicken malano. Truly you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu.

Prices: mid-range pricing should be expected for its high-quality produce and attentive service. Mains average at IDR 160,000 and cocktails are priced from IDR 120,000.

8. The Lokal 83061

If you are looking for a well-priced, decently sized and something that tastes close to home – The Lokal 83061 should be your go-to. Owned and operated by Australians, this restaurant in Legian is known for its expansive menu of Western pub favourites as well as hints of Asian cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, The Lokal 83061 has daily live music from 7pm, played at the perfect level to still hold a conversation and enjoy your dining experience.

Must try: Sirloin steak, surf and turf or the pork chops at always a hit. If you have a sweet tooth we can’t go past recommending a banana pancake or sticky date pudding.

Prices: Mains are very well priced between IDR 70,000 – 150,000 and drinks start from IDR 30,000 +.

9. Fat Bowl

Fat Bowl’s menu is lengthy and offers something for everyone with choices from Western, Asian, Italian and Indonesia cuisines. This well-known restaurant is frequently busy and populated by tourists every night of the week. Most flock there for their delicious well-portion food, whilst a select few brave the challenge and order in advance a 1kg burger. If you are feeling social there are pool tables upstairs and a live band.

Must try: the lemon crusted fish fillets and their brownie.

Prices: for the portion sizes and choices available Fat Bowl is moderately priced on average between IDR 90,000 – 160,000 for the main meal.

10. Lemongrass Thai Restaurant

You can expect to taste the freshness of every dish that comes from head chef Wayan Sadi’s kitchen at Lemongrass Thai Restaurant. Strict in her belief that each dish is made to order from scratch, using a combination of hand-blended spices and curry pastes with no added MSG. The menu is mostly seafood and poultry-based with vegetarian option sliced throughout. This is a casual dining restaurant with a friend atmosphere made possible by the warm Indonesian hospitality.

Must try: Khao pad for mains and the apple crumble for those that have a sweet tooth.

Prices: mains are moderately priced between IDR 70,000 – 140,000.
